When you are attacked by sickness or demonic forces it’s important to fight back through prayer for healing and deliverance. I want to help you by leading you to such a prayer.
Prayers like these really helped me to overcome sin, sickness, and true oppression in my life.
The most prominent one for me was when God healed me of cancer and restored the relationship to my father.
God moved powerfully when doing spiritual warfare.
I believe it will be a blessing to you as well.
Maybe you also want to learn what deliverance means first.
The Biblical Foundation Of Prayer For Healing And Deliverance
As you might know, it’s important that you don’t just mindlessly repeat words. But that you pray from your heart.
It’s important to be spiritually prepared.
That’s why I’d like to lay down a biblical foundation before I lead you in this prayer.
You need to know, you are going into warfare.
This is not a mere Thank-You-Jesus-Prayer. This is a prayer where you claim back, what the enemy has stolen from you.
Remember, “the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” (Matthew 11:12)
You are going to be violent in the Spirit of God to get back what was yours.
There is mercy and grace for you in Jesus Christ.
But there is no mercy for demons!
Also, you need to know that healing and deliverance go hand-in-hand together.
Many times, it says in the Bible, when Jesus delivered a “demon-possessed” person that afterward he was healed.
“(…) they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.”Matthew 4:24 NKJV
“Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.”Matthew 12:22 NKJV
“They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed.”Luke 8:36 NKJV
“And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.”Luke 9:42 NKJV
Please note that healing and deliverance can be and in most instances is a process!
God can deliver you in an instance, even after praying the prayer at the end of this article.
But some strongholds might just need some more prayerful diligence.
It’s like someone trying to break out of a prison cell. He chips on the wall with a spoon, little by little. Until the hole in the wall is big enough so that he can get through.
That’s how the deliverance process works.
I have experienced that every time I take time with Jesus, He pulls away another layer off my heart and off my life that He wants to set me free of.
Be encouraged. Over time you will have the freedom and victory that Jesus paid for on the cross.
Alright, now let’s lay some more biblical foundations for your prayer for healing and deliverance and spiritual warfare.
Disclaimer: Technically you can skip steps 4, 5, and 6. They are good for spiritual warfare just in case these demons won’t go without a fight. I do include them in the prayer though. Just be led by the Holy Spirit.
1. Repent and forgive
Before entering into the presence of God, you need to humble yourself, repent, and bring yourself and your whole life under the blood of Jesus.
Know that Jesus is faithful and just to forgive those that diligently confess their sins.
He will cleanse them from all unrighteousness.
In Exodus 20:5-6 it says
“(…) For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.”Exodus 20:5-6 NKJV
Sin and its curses run in the family lines. Therefore, let us stand in the gap for our family, I’d suggest all the way back to Adam and Eve.
You can see this in Ezekiel 22:30 where God tells Ezekiel that He “sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land”.
In your case, you are going to stand in the gap for your family to ask for forgiveness of the sin committed in your life and in your previous generations.
By the way, you can do this also for your spouse and children.
Be sure to also release every person that wronged you by forgiving them totally.
2. Put on the full armor of God
Before you continue in prayer for healing and deliverance any further make sure you put on the full armor of God.
God gave us this armor for a reason.
We are in spiritual warfare and the enemy is not sleeping, in fact, he’s going around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour.
As you can see in Ephesians 6:10-20 the armor of God consists of a “belt of truth”, a “breastplate of righteousness”, a “helmet of salvation”, “shoes of the Gospel”, a “shield of faith”, and a “sword of the spirit” which is the Word of God.
Maybe you noticed that this armor doesn’t have any backplate as a defense.
This is because God designed this armor as offensive armor.
Christians are to attack the enemy head-on.
See, with God we don’t have to run because we already have the victory in Jesus.
We can fight with confidence, boldness, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
That’s why God didn’t give us any armor for our back.
We shouldn’t need it.
I would suggest that you pray it on like this:
In the name of Jesus, I put on the belt of truth, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the shoes of the Gospel, and the sword of the Spirit.
3. Break the curse
Next in this prayer for healing and deliverance, we need to break the curse or rather the curses that came in through all sin committed in your life and the life of your ancestors.
To understand why and how curses can come into our lives you should read this article.
This is based on Exodus 20:5 as you read earlier.
In Galatians 3:13 it says “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (…)”.
He broke the curse by becoming a curse, so apply it as you do with the forgiveness God provided through the cross.
Repent and break any curse and consequence that God brings to mind.
Be very specific with it.
For example, you could say something like:
In the name of Jesus, I break any curse that came in through lying. I break any lying spirit, and I break the curse of lying in my bloodline on both sides, mother’s and father’s bloodline, all the way back to Adam and Eve.
4. Bind the strong man
In Mark 3:27 Jesus teaches us that ”No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.”
He said that because every spiritual demonic stronghold has different demonic levels.
The first level to attack is a strong man who protects the house or the stronghold.
The strategy of binding principalities comes from Psalm 149 and Matthew 16:19.
“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”Matthew 16:19 NKJV
In Psalms 149:8 it says “To bind their kings with chains,
And their nobles with fetters of iron;”
Obviously, we now do this in the Spirit. We are not binding anyone physically, but bind the dark spiritual power and principalities in the name of Jesus.
Jesus promises in Matthew, whatever we bind on earth in the physical through praying it out loud, will also be bound in the spiritual realm.
Therefore, to bring healing and deliverance to a specific area in your life, you first need to bind the strong man in the name of Jesus.
That is spiritual warfare.
Jesus already won the victory. You are here to execute it.
5. Unarm the spirit(s)
In the Bible, we can see that demonic forces do have armor and weapons.
The most prominent verse in the Bible for that is probably Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, (…)”
If there wouldn’t be a weapon formed, it wouldn’t talk about it not prospering.
In fact, the Bible shows us in Revelations 9:7-11 that demons do have weapons and armory.
It talks about the demonic forces having “breastplates” and “tails like scorpions”.
By the way, in the same passage, it talks about the whole demon army having a king called Abaddon or Apollyon as their leader.
That tells you that there are different levels of demons within demonic strongholds.
So, in the name of Jesus take those weapons, armor, devices, and crowns away from these demons.
They shall be spiritually defenseless against the judgment and deliverance of God.
6. Use God’s mighty weapons of warfare
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
Our weapons in Jesus are not carnal but they are powerful against the spiritual demonic kingdom.
In fact, God gives us a whole array of things you can release to bring against the enemy in the name of Jesus.
In Psalm 149:7 it says “To execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishments on the peoples;”
Obviously, we won’t curse people in the flesh, but we ought to execute God’s vengeance and punishment on the demonic forces that operate in people.
Because we already broke the curse, we now can turn the curse back on the enemy’s head.
You might want to do it manifold. Like 1000 times or worse on them, in the name of Jesus.
All the torment and suffering, they shall receive themselves now.
In Psalm 149:9 it says, “To execute on them the written judgment”.
You are allowed to execute God’s written and appointed judgment on demons.
They shall receive it until they go out and leave you forever.
What they absolutely don’t like is releasing the blood of Jesus on them.
They can’t stand it. Release it and see what happens. Deliverance will come into the place.
If it is a real fight you should release a holy confusion into the enemy’s camp so they would point their own weapons against each other or themselves (Exodus 23:27; 1 Samuel 14:20).
You should consider cursing the enemy at the root like Jesus cursed the tree (Mark 11:12-14, 20-21).
I personally had good success on this one when God healed me of cancer.
7. Cast out the evil spirit(s)
As you might already know, casting out demons is just what Jesus did in every one of His meetings.
I will go into more detail about that in this article.
In fact, Jesus tells His disciples to lay hands on the sick and cast out demons (Mark 16:15-19).
He promises, “they will recover.”, and when we cast out demons with the Holy Spirit, that the kingdom of God has come to you (Matthew 12:28).
Be bold in God, stay strong in His Holy Spirit.
It’s not by might nor by power, but by his Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6)
You may point your finger with the finger of God (Luke 11:20) and tell them to go in the name of Jesus.
They have to leave you 100%, with all their leaders and subordinates.
They shall never come back.
8. Release God’s blessings
After Jesus set you free and touched you, release the opposite of what you renounced.
Instead of the curse we now want the blessing, right?
So, instead of a lying spirit, for example, we now want the Spirit of truth.
Instead of anger, you want God’s love and peace.
Just release the opposite in the name of Jesus, and see what God does.
Let the Holy Spirit fill you.
The idea is to not leave the temple of God empty in order to maintain your healing and deliverance (Matthew 12:43-45). If you want to learn how you should check out this article.
A guided prayer for Healing and Deliverance
Disclaimer: This prayer is a suggestion and should serve as a help for a prayer of healing and deliverance. I tried to cover as much ground in it as I thought was helpful.
Of course, you can just repent, renounce and cast out your issue. I did include the spiritual warfare part in this prayer though, just in case these demons won’t go without a fight. In any case, be led by the Holy Spirit. In the end, that’s what counts.
I ask you for forgiveness for all of my sins. (You may want to repent of specific sins as well.)
I receive you as my Lord and Savior over my life. I surrender everything I am and have to you. Please be my helper and friend.
I cover myself and my family with your blood right now. I stand in the gap for my father’s and mother’s family line (and for my spouse and child(ren).) I ask you for forgiveness for all of our sins, especially for (fill in the blank). (1 John 1:9)
In Jesus’ name, I forgive and release every person that wronged or hurt me. I forgive them for making me feel (fill in the blank) by doing (fill in the blank), or not doing (fill in the blank), or saying (fill in the blank). In the name of Jesus, I completely forgive them. (Matthew 6:14-15)
In Jesus’ name, I put on the belt of truth, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, and the shoes of the gospel. I take up the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:10-20).
(The following should also be prayed by your child, if possible. If not, renounce the same thing your child needs deliverance from in your life. Sometimes these things run in the family.)
In the name of Jesus, I renounce (fill in the blank for any sickness, disease, curse, or sin you want to renounce now. Be specific.) in my life and also in my bloodline, both ways all the way back to Adam and Eve.
Holy Father, in the name of Jesus, I invite your precious Holy Spirit into this place right now. In the name of Jesus, I ask you, Father, to send sufficient angels that would assist in this spiritual warfare with healing, deliverance, protection, and praise. Please glorify your name here right now. Thank you for being so faithful to me and my family.
In the name of Jesus, I declare that everything that leaves me and/or my child here today has to go right back into the pit of hell and will never come back. I bind all the demons I renounced as one and they have to leave us as one.
In Jesus’ name, I also bind and break any plan of the enemy for revenge. In Jesus’ name, I bind the strong man right now. I take away all weapons, armor, devices, and crowns of all demons I renounced in my life. I reverse their curse (X amount, like 10 times, 50 times, etc.) of times back on their own head. May they receive back what they came out to do to me. (Psalm 149:5-9, Matthew 16:19, Mark 3:27)
I declare in Jesus’ name that no weapon formed against me shall prosper but be turned back to its sender right now (Isaiah 54:17). They shall receive their own fear, their own suffering, their own torment, their own (fill in the blank with what you renounced). In the name of Jesus, I release God’s written and appointed judgment for every single one of these demons right now (Psalm 149:5-9, Revelation 15).
In the name of Jesus, I release a holy confusion into the enemy’s camp, so they would point their own weapons against each other or themselves (Exodus 23:27, 1 Samuel 14:19-20). In the name of Jesus, I command that they have to hear their own lies like a broken record over and over again, like the torment they tried to bring on me and my child until they leave us.
In the name of Jesus, I curse (fill in the blank with what you renounced) at the root like Jesus cursed the tree (Matthew 21:19). It shall die, dry up, and never bring bad fruit in our lives again.
In the name of Jesus, I come against (fill in the blank with what you renounced) with the blood of Christ and command them to leave me here and my child altogether, right now!
(You and/or your child take a deep breath now, maybe cough three times, and let it all go. These troubles you renounced are Spirit(s), so they will have to leave through breath/spirit. Trust me, it works. That’s how God healed me from cancer and so many other things too. Let God move on you now. Let the Holy Spirit touch you and set you free. Should a demon manifest, don’t be intimidated. Just tell it to go in the name of Jesus until it leaves. Once you feel God’s healing and deliverance is completed for the moment, you might want to release the blessing.)
In the name of Jesus, I release God’s blessing (opposite of what you renounced). I release healing, freedom, deliverance, the power of God, joy, and God’s anointing, (or anything else you want to release). Holy Spirit please fill every empty space in me now. Fill me with your light and your love. I dedicate every now delivered space in my life back to Jesus. Jesus, I put you first in every area of my life.
Heavenly Father, I ask you in Jesus’ name to stir up new gifts in our lives through your Holy Spirit to bring good fruits and build your kingdom (1 Corinthians 12,14).
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask you for the Spirit of strength and the power of your might to come into my life and the life of my child (Ephesians 6:10). I also ask you, in the name of Jesus, to release the authority over all the power of the enemy, to trample on spiritual serpents and scorpions, and that nothing would harm us (Luke 10:19).
I thank you and praise you for what you are doing in our lives.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
When we ask, “did Jesus worship God?”, we actually mean, “did Jesus really worship God while being God himself? Did He, therefore, worship himself?” I want to answer these questions
Worshipping God through songs, hymns, and prayers is a central part of modern Christian life. But what did Jesus say about worship? In this article, we will look together into
If you need to break generational curses in your life, I have a proven self-deliverance prayer for you that actually works. I prayed this prayer or variations of it for
